Journalling is a great way to reflect on your life, reflect on yourself, and to express your thoughts. However journaling is often repititive when you only focus on what happened that day. These prompts can be used to discuss a different topic for the next few days. I hope you enjoy these!

hello loves, im back again with another post – all things bullet journal related.

I usually find my self sticking to simple and easy spreads. but this month I wanted to try something new and incorporate a theme to my spreads. I decided on friends 🙂

august seperator

I included a doodle of the door and picture frame found in Monica and Rachels apartment as well as my take on the central perk logo.

months at a glance

I created these spreads a while back but did not touch them in the month of august. for next month I will probably stick just doing simpler spreads 🙂

MARCH 2019

Maybe I just care too much or fell head over heels for someone who doesn’t reciprocate. I feel like i’m drowning waiting for his responses. Yet all this man does is joke and tweet. I love him but I hate him at the same time. Who knew love meant staring at your phone every minute waiting to see if he has messaged you back. I know everyone is in cahoots with him planning something. This is exactly what happened last year. Man went awol, I went crazy trying to get him to respond, everyone told me to break it off he was a waste man. Then I go to my psychiatrist appt. and boom he’s there.

Everyone second of the day he is on my mind. Is he okay? Is he hurt? Did he eat? How is he doing?

I put him before my mental health and its something I cant stop.

I go to sleep thinking of him and wake up with him on my mind. The simple things remind me of him. I hear a fast car – him. I cant seem to find any pictures of us together. I privated everything and I am struggling to find any evidence. I swear I wrote everything down. I feel like complete and utter shit.

practicing the art of gratitude

Gratitude is an over looked concept. It is defined as ” the quality of being thankful”. it is the simple art of finding inner peace and ever lasting happiness. In lay mans terms, gratitude allows you to think and write down the things you are most grateful for in your life.

I don’t think I ever really practiced gratitude – until pretty much everything in my life turned to shit. At this point of time my anxiety was at its highest its ever been and I was grieving my cousin, Waldo’s, sudden death. I faced anxiety of the present and future. I was scared of everything that was to come in my life – because after all, everything can change in a blink of an eye. One minute everything can be fine and the next it could be utter chaos.

The aftermath of my cousins death left me losing faith. Everything changed, but for the worst. In order to mend my heart back together, I turned to the art of gratitude. Being a bullet journaller for a year at the time, I came across several collection spreads on gratitude logs – but before then, it never really resonated with me.

And so i set out to practice gratitude, in order to change my current outlook on life. I turned to pinterest to find inspiration for my gratitude log. Over time, I found that the easiest way to practice gratitude was to simply list a few things I was grateful for, on a daily basis.

NOTE: there are many other ways to practice gratitude, such as simply writing a word or line a day. or even just a simple list like I do 🙂

I would have to say that practicing gratitude has bettered both my life and mental health. More often than not, I find my self displaying a positive outlook on life. The art of gratitude has given me a new perspective or lens through which I view my life. Overall, I believe that practicing gratitude has allowed me to be more content with all I have in my life and not focus on what I don’t have.

would you consider practicing gratitude in your life ? what are your thoughts on the art of gratitude currently?

PS – linked is a pinterest board i have curated to help you set up a spread for practicing gratitude – whether it be in your journal, bullet journal or just a plain ol’ notebook 🙂

Bullet Journaling?

Individuals are constantly coming up with new ways to stay organized and track events. I used to be agenda/planner girl. This was the method I would use to stay up to date. The agenda was usually provided by my school. As a student, I have been using this method for as long as I can remember; I believe I had been using this method for approximately 11 years. But over time, I realized that this traditional method was not for me.

I came across the method of bullet journaling when I was scrolling through YouTube looking at Plan With Me videos. Here’s a brief history on bullet journaling. Ryder Carroll came up with the idea of bullet journaling, as a place to keep track of things. Such as things you’ve done, things you aspire to do, important dates etc. He wanted a flexible system, which is an analog system used to track the past, organize the present and plan the future. This system requires a notebook of your choice and a variety of different pages. The original system designed by Carroll included these pages: key, index, future log, monthly log, daily log and a variety of collection pages.

The purpose of these pages

KEY: signifies what each symbol/ bullet means

INDEX: keep track of the pages in your bullet journal

FUTURE LOG: keep track of future dates in a year at a glance

MONTHLY LOG: keep track of events and tasks in a month

DAILY LOG: keep track of daily tasks and events

COLLECTION PAGES: additional notes and task that are related by a common theme. Examples: Books to read, shopping lists, monthly faves, gratitude logs, etc).

I seem to find myself drawn to bullet journaling for several reasons. Firstly, it allows you to express yourself and be creative in ways that you can not in a planner. With this method, you can design how you want your daily log to look, instead of using a standard layout in a planner. Also, it is very flexible. This method allows you to plan your weeks, in general days and months in a format that is appealing to you. meanwhile, in a planner, you have a set amount of space given to you. Furthermore, by using a bullet journal you have freedom. By this, I mean that you are able to do whatever you want in your bullet journal. The collection page, in general, re going to be different and unique. For instance,  in my bullet journal, I have several journal entries and use it as a scrapbook. I tape in pictures or pieces of my day that I would want to remember down the line. Lastly, this method allows you to bring out the artist in your self. Each page is designed by yourself. To decorate and bring your pages to life, you can use a variety of supplies. Such as pens, markers, paint, washi tape, stickers and more. Don’t worry, there will be a blog post coming up where I talk about my favourite bullet journal supplies 🙂

A page, currently in my bullet journal
